Meet our Team

Our team is made up of loving, passionate individuals who care deeply about each of our Sunflowers. We are so thankful for each of them and the wisdom they bring to our team.

Bree

Bree is the founder and co-leader of Sunflower. After spending years at a wonderful school for children with disabilities in Melbourne, Australia, Bree’s heart for children with disabilities brought her all the way to Uganda to continue the call God had on her life to love those most vulnerable.

Peace

Peace is a CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation Worker) from our local community. Her desire is to see each of our children have access to all the tools and equipment they need to be a part of their local communities. Peace’s passion to care for those with a disability was cultivated through caring for her brother, who himself had a disability. We are so grateful for her quiet care and commitment to our Sunflowers.

Gloria

Gloria is a loving mama to a sweet son with cerebral palsy. Her focus is to visit caregivers of our sweet Sunflowers and share in time of honest conversation and for those who desire it, Bible study. Her calling is to help support and journey with other caregivers who also experience the highs and lows of having a child with a disability. We are so grateful for her gentle and wise care for our caregivers.

Lillian

Lillian’s bubbly personality and love of laughter is infectious and such a wonderful gift to our Sunflowers. Her passion is to help each of our kids to learn and grow in their lives through play based learning. She is their biggest encouragement and champions each of them with affection and enthusiasm.

Kimberly

Kimberly is our other co-leader and wonderful logistics guru, who can do just about anything. After many years working in business and resource management, we are so grateful to have her as part of our Sunflower team. We are so thankful for her sweet encouragement, expertise and skills to help everything run smoothly behind the scenes.

Doreen A.

This is our wonderful Administration Assistant. We are so thankful for her work to help our office and projects run smoothly. We met Doreen 4 years ago after visiting her sister who has a disability. Doreen’s unique insight into care and community has been so helpful to our whole team. We are so grateful that she is willing to work with us to better love our Sunflowers in a culturally impactful way.

Doreen T.

Doreen is our wonderful Special Education Teacher who has a desire to see each of our children learning and growing in an inclusive way. We are pleased for her careful planning, preparation, and for the ways she shares her knowledge with our team and community in our Special Education Trainings.

Fortunate

We are blessed to have this passionate Social Worker on our team who boldly loves our children and desires for them to thrive in their communities. We are thankful for her big smile and a welcoming personality that invites each of our Sunflowers in.

Julie

The lovely Julie has joined our team as our Special Education Advisory and Staff support. After an extensive career as a Special Education Teacher, we are so blessed to have her serve our team and Sunflower Community with her wisdom and compassion for our community.

Claire

With many years of experience on the field, Claire has joined our Sunflower team as an Occupational Therapist Advisor and Staff support. As she comes with a warm new perspective and a passion to want the best for our families and children, we are excited to have her skills and positive outlook part of our team.

Ramandan

Ramandan is the newest member of our Sunflower team and has joined us to help advocate and care for our Sunflowers who need medical attention. His kind encouragement, wise understanding and caring manner has been a hug support to our Sunflower families in their time of need.

Join our team.

We love the work that we do, but there is so much more still to be done!

Do you have a gifting or qualification in Physical, Occupational, Speech, Music or Art Therapies? A love for caring for and loving those with a disability? A background in Nursing, Teaching or just a heart for this kind of work? We would love to hear from you and how we might be able to work together!
